Sam Weinstein Zimbel

Samuel Weinstein Zimbel is a 4th year Sustainable Development Major at Columbia University. He has joined the team as a Conservation Intern with the EBC for Summer 2023. Growing up in Toronto, Sam fostered his love for nature through time spent on the city's lakeshore and the Toronto Islands. Competitive rowing since 2015 has further increased his appreciation for nature and water conservation. Sam and his family also frequently visit Manitoulin during the summers; Sam first heard of the EBC while hiking the Cup and Saucer trail in Manitoulin, one of EBCs most celebrated conservation areas.

Sam assists primarily with stewardship site visits and digitizing EBC records. Because of the wide scope of Sustainable Development, Sam is interested in the ways conservation fits into the new era of sustainability. This perspective helps Sam support and offer varied solutions to issues in conservation. He is very excited to be working with our organization to protect biodiversity in his home province.
