Join us on June 3rd from 9 am - 11 am for another one of our spring birding hikes at EBC's Kimbercote Nature Preserve!
Located in the Beaver Valley, these birding hikes, led by David Turner, are FREE for EBC supporters* Haven't signed up yet? Click here to donate: escarpment.ca/donate
Space is limited, and spaces are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to register before June 2nd. Please email hannah@escarpment.ca to RSVP for the Kimbercote hike.
Both novice and experienced birders will enjoy the hike as May and June are migration months in the Beaver Valley. Orioles, finches, and other colorful birds can be found, like the beautiful redstart pictured here. This photograph was taken at our successful outing in May with David.
Where to meet? Everyone meets at Garage 13, the charming shop next to Eugenia Falls, located at 194335 Grey Rd 13, Eugenia, ON. The group can grab a coffee and a snack from 8:30 am before heading out at 9 am in their own vehicles with David. David knows all the best spots, so don't be surprised if there are unscheduled stops en route because David spies something special. Everyone parks at Elephant Thoughts, 316362 3rd Line C, Heathcote, ON. Then David leads the birding hike on foot along the trails at Kimbercote and the Bruce Trail. It is advisable to wear sensible walking shoes and bring a camera and a pair of binoculars if you have access to some. A hat is always a good idea!
The hike ends at 11 am, but Mandy Russell, the gracious owner of Garage 13, encourages the hikers to return to the store for a soft ice cream or an iced slushy café mocha before heading over to view Eugenia Falls just steps away.
*Once a donation has been made to EBC, you qualify to attend EBC supporter events for FREE for the rest of the year. Please don't forget to register for these events by emailing hannah@escarpment.ca
