What is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement, taking place each year after Black Friday. “Opening day of the giving season,” when charities, companies and individuals rally for favourite causes. In the same way, retailers push Black Friday, the giving community comes together for Giving Tuesday.

Your donation will help achieve our mission and the mission of our planet: a greener world.

What is EBC fundraising for?

Our Wild Futures Project. Environment Canada is contributing up to $1.2 million in parallel with EBC’s fundraising between now and March 2023. We will use this money and the money fundraised to secure 4,800 acres on Manitoulin Island and the Niagara Escarpment ensuring more land is protected for you and wildlife. To learn more about our Wild Futures Campaign, click here.

These precious acres are homes to at least 14 species at risk in Ontario including:

Spotted Turtle, Queensnake, Pitcher’s Thistle, Hill’s Thistle, Barn Swallow, Little Brown Myotis, Midland Painted Turtle, Canada Warbler, Eastern Wood Pewee, Monarch Butterflies, Eastern Meadowlark, Hart's tongue fern, Bobolink, Woodthrush just to name a few.

Why give to nature?

Because nature is life!

How does nature give life?

Did you know that every 10 acres conserved, sequesters carbon (up to 12 cars worth of emissions yearly) and protects biodiversity in trees, mammals, birds, and more.

Every 10 acres conserved, improves the quality of air we breathe, of the water we drink, and protects the habitat for at least 50 or more living species.

What are the costs for EBC and for you?

Every year EBC receives gifts of donated land. But accepting these gifts comes with expenses - legal fees land studies, surveys and legal registration requirements EBC has to cover these costs or we can’t conserve the land.

Every $75 you donate, means that EBC receives a contribution from Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Every $75 you donate, actually costs you $45 after tax, and translates into twice the amount ($150) worth of land conserved. And that land goes on to provide priceless recreation and habitat every year.

Donate $75, it costs you $45 and conserves $150 worth of land.
