Volunteer of the Month: Elizabeth McRae (December, 2021)

December 23, 2021

Elizabeth has been an avid supporter of the Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy for more than 20 years. Her husband and Bob Barnett (EBC's Executive Director) knew each other from a long time ago, back in University days. Her awareness of the EBC started on memorable camping and canoeing trips with Bob and Anna (Bob's wife) before the EBC came into being. They all shared an interest in exploring Ontario’s natural landscape and Elizabeth expresses it being a pleasure seeing the EBC develop into a major Conservation initiative in Ontario.

Elizabeth was a librarian for many years. Retirement was a welcome gift! However, during Covid, she found herself in need of a focus. She decided to volunteer with us every Friday. Elizabeth would spend the day with old friends (Bob and Anna) and new colleagues, Liv and Shannon in the office. Elizabeth shared that "It’s all the best parts of working, sharing laughs and stories, and doing good work with smart staff." She really enjoys her time with the EBC team.

Elizabeth has been assisting with making sure the bi-annual newsletter 'Precipice' is ready to get out to supporters. She does this by stuffing envelopes, adding stamps, folding and mailing hundreds of newsletters. Elizabeth also does a little bit of everything that goes on behind the scenes and is delighted to spend her time thanking generous supporters with thank you notes.

Thank you for all you do to for EBC, Elizabeth, we really appreciate the time you give to support EBC and the natural areas of Southern Ontario!
