Volunteer of the Month: Maureen MacDonald

September 30, 2021

Maureen MacDonald is the owner and operator of Hoops N Loops Custom Embroidery in Barrie, Ontario.

Maureen first learned about EBC through her daughter, Shannon MacDonald who is EBC’s Regional Conservation Coordinator. Like mother, like daughter, Maureen is an outdoorsy person who is very conscious about her carbon footprint. She is always trying to buy organic, healthy foods and shop locally when she can. She has two sweet dogs that she spends a lot of time in the forest with. On her daily walks, she doesn’t go anywhere without a spare garbage bag to pick up any litter that she finds out on the trails!

Maureen first volunteered with us at our Trout Hollow Nature Reserve Grand Opening on September 18th. She guided all guests to get the food and drinks provided and encouraged people to take some home to their families ensuring there was as little waste as possible on the day. In the near future, Maureen will be assisting EBC in the creation of our first merchandise. This will hopefully get our name out to more people, as well as create a sense of community and teamwork among supporters.

Thank you for volunteering with us Maureen and we look forward to our continued partnership in the future!
