History

This 19 acres property is designated as Hazard and Rural according to Bruce County Official Plan. Hazard Lands are areas that pose a risk if developed due to inherent site conditions. 

Features

The Rumbold Property is dominated by a lowland deciduous forest with a wetland that covers around half of the parcel. The forests and wetlands on the property contribute to the surrounding natural area and connects the lowland forest to the riparian zone, uninterrupted by public roads. 

Characteristics of this deciduous forest provide suitable habitat for the Wood-Thrush and Cerulean Warbler, which are considered Special Concern and Threatened, respectively provincially.

Located between Highway 6 and Stokes Bay Road, northeast of Stokes Bay and northwest of Lion’s Head.
