Dewar Shores
EBC has been expanding this reserve since its original acquisition in 2005. It is at 281-acres and will hopefully expand to 381-acres in the near future!
History
This property was acquired by EBC in three different segments. The first lot was purchased in 2005 followed by another in 2007 and the last in 2013. It is now 281 acres! We are in the process of acquiring a fourth lot adding 100 acres to this reserve!
Significant Features
The sand beach shoreline with glacial formations reaches out into Lake Huron. The remainder of the property is forest and fen wetlands. This property has the rare species Pitcher’s Thistle and lies within a kilometre of the Timber Bay Beach Dune Complex.
Location
This reserve is located right on the Lake Huron shore. Starting in Providence Bay, head south on Hwy 551. Once you reach Government Road, head east for about 2 km. Note, the EBC sign is located on the south side of Government Road and may be difficult to see. You may park here and hike along to the shore. The trail starts in over the road allowance and has some wet areas. After walking approximately 1 km from the road you reach the property. To view Google Maps click here.
