History

The 281-acre property was purchased as three separate parcels. The first being in 2005, then 2007 and finally, in 2013.

Features

The species at risk with habitat on the property include the Henslow’s Sparrow, the Monarch Butterfly, the Round-leaved Groundsel and the Pitcher’s Thistle.

The property is also designated as a Deer Yard, made of coniferous tree species, suitable habitat for White-tailed Deer seasonally between summer and winter, with wintering areas. The wetland, forest and shoreline on the property make it a habitat for aquatic species, birds, mammals and herpetofauna.

Location

The Dewar property is located right on the Lake Huron shoreline on the south side of Manitoulin Island, and south side of Government Rd.
