Macdonald
History
This property is 113.52 acres.
Significant Features
The property consists of a large riverine system along both sides of the South Saugeen River within the Saugeen watershed. Land use along the Saugeen River is highly agricultural and the section of river that runs through the property is one of the few undisturbed areas. Thick cedar woodlands flank the riverine system along the top of the ridge on the south side of the river. At the base of the ridge is a wide floodplain area, consisting of an old ox-bow, ponds, extensive meadows and thickets with tall grasses, cattails and shrubby trees such as hawthorns, dogwood and willow. On the north side of the river, the brood floodplain leads up to a ridge of wooded area, consisting of mixed hardwood and conifer species.
